The Hazen Union School teaching staff is in the process of developing an authentic system of grading and reporting. A team of teachers are looking at research and common practices from around the country to build a system that truly communicates what students know.
The team is tasked with answering the following questions: 1. What is proficiency based learning? 2. How do we assess proficiency based learning? 3. How do we evaluate and report PBL to our various stakeholders?
Throughout the process, the team will: 1. Keep the conversation centered on doing what is best for kids 2. Continually frame the conversations around what a grade SHOULD reflect in order to best prepare students for life, work and college 3. Enhance communication with families
